Having actually been to China I can tell you that in the cities it's a lot like major cities here or US etc. The main thing holding back car ownership is government regulation designed to control pollution, once that barrier is removed I think car ownership will explode, especially if there are affordable EV options, which there increasingly are.
As for the power grid - you know China is building like 20 nuclear reactors right now (to add to the fleet of 37) and plan to build another 175ish by 2030, yea?
