Vanadium Titanomagnetite deposit in Hebei
Wednesday, 06 May 2009
According to Geology and Minerals Prospecting and Exploration Bureau of Hebei Province, China found 1bln tons of vanadium titanomagnetite deposit in Chengde, Hebei, the largest vanadium-titanium base in the north China.
From comprehensive research and collection of aeromagnetic and geomagnetic data, Hebei GMPEB forecasts this field a deep large scale vanadium titanomagnetite deposit would have over 1 billion tonnes of V-Ti resources with metal content reaching 30%.
Vanadium titanomagnetite a major input in V-Ti production is the scarce resource on the earth. Vanadium could greatly improve strength, toughness, ductility and heat resistance of steel products. 1 ton of alloy steel with 0.1% vanadium equals to 1.4 tonnes of common steel, so if we produce 1 tonne of vanadium, we have produced 400 tonnes of steel.
Depending on Chengde V-Ti base, Chengde Xinxin Vanadium and Titanium Company a listed company since 2002 has captured 35% of domestic market shares and 8% at abroad by series products of vanadium pent oxide and vanadium sesquioxide.
Chengde City is expected to have an annual production capacity of 160,000 tonnes of vanadium slag, 250,000tons of titanium concentrated powder and 12 million tonnes of V-Ti alloy steel at the end of The 11th Five-Year Plan. Besides, its V-Ti products would share over half of the market at that time and become the largest V-Ti base in the world.
