The AZJ intermodal train from Perth's Kewdale to Adelaide's Dry Creek North is approaching Barton, South Australia on the Trans Australia Railway as at 0840 AEDT (0810 ACDT), and unusually is being 'chased' a few kilometres behind by train nunber PU1D which is the Kwinana (Perth) to Broken Hill empty mineral sands train operated under contract by Aurizon for UK-owned Tronox that has its mine at Trida (between Parkes and Broken Hill).
This is the first time in years there have been two AZJ-operated trains in the same direction across the desert in proximity.
Let's hope the Linfox etc. intermodal train contract continues for months.
