voice-over-internet protocol VoIP to drive revenue, increase W Home take-up rates SYDNEY 1 June 2005 – SkyNetGlobal Limited, listed on ASX (“SKG”) in Sydney and on AIM (“SKN”) in London, announced a strategic partnership today with engin, Australia’s leading full-service broadband phone company, whose highly discounted telephony products will be offered on an OEM basis in all W Home Internet-enabled buildings. The addition of a high-quality, full-featured VoIP service to the W Home product line is expected to increase the customer take-up rate for W Home and provide a boost to the average revenue per customer in W Home-enabled buildings. SkyNetGlobal will receive a commission on all calls originating from its W Home apartments. The partnership follows a successful five-building trial in Sydney in which W Home subscribers embraced engin’s elegantly simple VoIP “Voice Box,” which connects directly to an existing telephone handset and provides a telephony experience that is virtually identical to the traditional PSTN system. Licensed in March 2004, engin’s service is the first retail solution in Australia that allows a broadband user to make calls to and receive calls from any landline or mobile phone. The service requires no computer, no software and no configuration – just a phone and a broadband Internet connection. A typical household can expect substantial savings on its phone bills. Under the W Home plan, local calls are priced at A$0.10 cents per call, irrespective of duration, while national calls are fixed at A$0.05 cents per minute. International calls to 36 separate countries are priced at A$0.04 per minute or less. By contrast, Telstra charges A$0.35 to A$0.65 per minute or more for international calls to many of the same destinations. “Our customers were pleased with the features, the price and the high-quality connections,” says Jonathan Soon, CEO of SkyNetGlobal. “But the real clincher for many people is that they no longer have to pay fixed line monthly rental charges because this service does not require a rented phone line – just a broadband connection.” 1
