Totally agree, you should never fall in love with a company. Comparing AZL and PLS is a bit far fetched though and not a fair comparison as you say, I could argue that in the last 12months AZL is up 100% (incl HWK days) and PLS is up 60%. Producers would be doing better in current conditions as they are 'safer' so will attract more buyers while things are volatile. AZL is a risk as are all spec stocks, I'm happy to ride but am lucky to be amongst those that are still up so it's an easier decision than those that are in the red. I too am disappointed that we still don't have an update, but will watch with interest, still a long term holder at this stage and not expecting to be multi bagging in the near future. Always have an exit plan though.
