I realize it’s more difficult because everything is upside down, but don’t they teach anyone in Australia how to read a map? Take a careful look. The northwest part of the new national monument is about 20 miles (30km) from the Hualapai Reservation. From the southeast portion, it’s about 40 miles (60km), only because the Havasupai Reservation is already protected for its cultural and religious significance. The point is that the national monument boundaries don’t show where Native American significance drops from 100% to zero. The significance of this Biden Administration initiative is that Indian nations are gaining substantial influence over use of public lands.
