It is a very rare idiot indeed who has the self-awareness of his limitations and the foresight to bring in people smarter than themselves. I have seen it done. But it is an aberration as the majority of idiots in managerial positions have a tendency to surround themselves with other idiots and people of average ability who are willing to debase themselves by paying insincere compliments to the idiot in the hope of being fast-tracked for promotion. I hope our former glorified bookkeeper falls into the rarer of the two idiot archetypes.
