Also an example of Canadians using an obsolete name for an Indian nation that has rejected the title given to them by the Spaniards who first encountered them.
The reason energy storage is needed in Arizona is that alternative energy sources are replacing the coal-generated power from the Navajo Reservation. The Four Corners plant and the Navajo Mine employ roughly 700 Navajo. The Navajo Nation earns between $40 million and $45 million annually from coal mine royalties, plus taxes on mine and plant operations, together accounting for nearly 24% of the Navajo Nation’s general fund.
