    Here’s a news item from last week about a company that is buying up farmland 200 miles away, to sell the water rights to a Phoenix suburb.

    They paid US$21 million for 2,033 acre feet of water, or US$10,330 each. Do the math – an acre foot is 326,000 US gallons. According to AZL’s Doug Pitts, Big Sandy will require 130,000 gallons per ton of lithium produced -- an acre foot for every 2.5 tons. That comes out to $4,132 per ton, just for the water.
