In one of their legal documents Hualapai said they would encourage their members to use their cell phones and laptops less. It's laughable.
The writing is on the wall. Ivan Bender's "backyard" (as he puts it) is not going to stop what could provide the lithium for 400,000 EV batteries a year. Hualapai's huge reservation is 70 miles away from Big Sandy, twice the "79% of US lithium projects within 35 miles of a reservation" stat.
Hualapai have communicated with Earth Justice and if Earth Justice ends up representing them they would look like absolute hypocrites as they have an active lawsuit with the USPS for not planning to convert their entire fleet to EV. Where does EJ want the lithium from USPS's EV fleet to come from? Thacker Pass? China? 3rd world countries?
