Not true. If sentiment gets manipulated in chat, then there will be either a rush to buy or panic to sell.
Usually the posters involved do the opposite of what they claim to be doing, or they switch sentiment in extremes, taking advantage of the less well researched.
They crowd the chat on fundamentals, and try to blind people with chart talk as if charts override fundamentals.
They make untrue claims repeatedly, exhausting the capacity of those trying to balance discussion and evading detection of mods who don't know the stock well enough to detect untruths
They attack those with better understanding, to try to discredit them.
Other variables:
the history of the company is complex and chart gives a different perspective on future situation.
there are low volumes super easy to manipulate then.
there are actors behaving in concert, as with a short ladder attack.
Combinations of these will have drastic results.
I've seen it many times where people panic either way and don't take the time to understand the sector and the factors operating on the SP.
and if there are low volumes very easy to manipulate.
What you say is eventually true, in that fundamentals eventually override other factors but before then it's rich pickings for the cynical manipulators with zero conscience.
