    One didn't need higher maths for any of the maths type questions on last nights TV program. A primary school
    maths education would have sufficed.

    As a commentary on the IQ test. Mr brother who was the youngest student (at the time) to obtain a PhD at Melbourne Uni (Pure Maths) and was a maths lecturer in various Uni's scored well below average in the one and only IQ test he did.

    Recently along with some of his PhD graduates at Latrobe he was involved in the solution of a problem in mathematics that had eluded mathematicians around the world for many years. (This solution was written up in international maths journals)

    He was called the "father of mathematics" at Latrobe for his contribution to the Maths Dept. with the distinction that every one of his PhD students obtained their doctorate.

    So much for the validity of IQ tests as a measure of intelligence.
