I wouldn't count on ABC researchers to provide any clarity, they are the media and their job is to stir up fear and make as much noise as possible.

Presumably the alleged "pollution" is from the Baal Gammon mining lease itself (pit and waste rock dump) and not from the surrounding CSD exploration tenements. Whoever owns the mining lease owns the problem, but you can bet that the ABC will be underplaying the historical legacy of mining in the Walsh River area over the last 150 years, and would be tremendously surprised to learn that old mining areas often contain legacy environmental issues where its impossible to attribute exactly what old historic mining operation is responsible for what is seen recently. What ABC journalists understand about mining and rehabilitation of mine sites could fit onto the back of a postage stamp.

Kagara always liked Baal Gammon but went under before things could get going, even then it had issues, then in 2012 I saw that Snow Peak Mining were mining on behalf of Monto Minerals then later on Baal Gammon Copper took over the mining lease and also got regulatory attention.

Governments love collecting royalties from mining operations but seem to have an aversion to spending money to rehabilitate historic contaminated sites - Mt Morgan in QLD is another classic example of this.
