If the ruddy CEO is costing the organisation over $1,000.00 per day, then the "hangeronners" on top, plus dozens of workers, plus rents, plus taxes and so on. How much intelligence do you need to run a child care centre that is remunerated mostly by the Government? To me it sounds like being in the right place at the right time...ka-ching! What we need here is the ability to employ a Nanny, or a Au Pair. In Singapore Ex Pats for example, can have a live in Nanny to look after the kids, walk the dog, do the shopping and so on for a fraction of what we losers here pay through the nose just to put one child into child care. Every week there is a line up outside Wells Fargo or other money transfer organisations as the Au Pairs / Nannys line up to send money back to their families where ever they came from. They get full board so their expenses are small. Win / win for all...we create employment here for people that would never normally have a job and take pressure of families wishing to have more children. You can bet though the child care CEO's, those with shares in child care and the overpaid staff will not have a bar of such an arrangement...the unions probably as well. Too many snouts in the trough and too much corruption going on to consider such a logical move. This country is seriously rooted! ..

Singaporean domestic helpers do not create employment for people in Singapore who would otherwise not find work. The law there allows people to pay them less than minimum wage because they are imported labour, usually from the Philippines. I don't really understand your point though. You can employ an au pair in Australia.
