A very rational analysis which is going to prove to be hindsight only for many property investors.

RE: Downsize - sell the large family home, buy a smaller/cheaper residence.
As I am close to 70, I can vouch that this is common sense, i.e. the capacity to enjoy oneself and maintain/enjoy a sizeable property - decreases with age.

Our houses are such unwieldy investments that we are often imprisoned rather than housed by them.
