My dad bought his first house when it was less than 70k, now it's over a million, his first job was like something like $20 a day and he said it was the best time ever in Australia and life was so easy, because every is super cheap, a packet of cigarettes was like 40 cents or something. Now people get $200 a day and that peanuts to survive on.
If there was a stabbing in Melbourne it would be on the national news, now it's happening every week and barely make it into the local news.
As for kids, there's a direct correlation between wealth and number of children. As people get more wealthy, they have less kids. Because they have more options in life to find meaning.
