Well the way the politicians are going does not lead to a solution.
Rivers at Tully, Cardwell and Ingham (and the Johnson at Innisfail) can flood but discharge massive volumes on their short path to the Pacific Ocean.
Reversing the flow - particularly at Tully - would feasibly deliver volume water to the western side of the range.
Further south in Qld on the Balonne at Djirrinbandi and neighboring Cubby, lax law has allowed farming enterprises to sequester nearly all the flow which used to head down the Darling to Menindee and Pooncarie.
Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra treated sewerage water is wastefully pumped into the ocean: The wrong way in a dry continent.
So we agree enoggera that rain is needed; the politicians are not helping.
Murray Darling "Management" Authority indeed.
