"What if it is the older generation, the baby boomers, who have been secretly, selfishly squandering the future of following generations?"

"Being part of a big generation has been very beneficial: it has enabled them to dominate markets and shape politics. They have accumulated tremendous individual wealth and power and have fashioned culture and society to suit their interests and needs."

"There is no denying that the baby boomer generation has enjoyed unprecedented affluence. They have had it all. They have enjoyed greater opportunities and prosperity than their parents, they have benefited from low inflation, good, well-paying good jobs, subsidised education opportunities and healthcare, rising house prices and generous retirement schemes. They have milked public spending when young and old."

"But they are leaving us with social bills that future generations will have to pay"

"boomers have attained affluence at the expense of their children. He accuses them of a colossal selfishness and calls on them to put aside their self-interest and do something about it."

"The boomers borrowed heavily from their children's prosperity, so much so that there is no longer an assumption that future generations will be better off than their parents a damning indictment. It is time for a new social contract based on fairness between generations."
