I could be crude and say that what they did was a 100% mistake not management
But regardless if they were managers or not, the fact is there were two actions which resulted in less high intensity burns
One was that they never cut down the high mature timber which has it's leaf area a long way off the ground and a long way from a undergrowth fire
Second was that the constant burn clearing resulted in new green undergrowth and also made it easier to catch game
We come along and cut the tall timber (and still do) resulting in fires which consume the undergrowth and also the tall foliage making for high intensity fires every time, making it essential to do constant controlled bush fires to maintain a safe environment
