ahh - an inversion machine - that must be a "back swing" - yep watso has one of those - and the good news is, that it is tucked away behind a cupboard.

sure, the back swing gave temporary relief - but cycling gave watso long lasting relief.

watso understands all about back pain, and prior to working out that cycling solved watso's back problem, he seriously thought that he would become an invalid.

the back swing remains behind a cupboard, and hopefully it will never be used again - but by the same token, there is no need to get rid of it, because at the time, it gave necessary relief - and who knows, it could always come in handy again.

one thing for sure, is that it is better to have a "back swing" behind a cupboard (even if it is not used), than not to have one.

just a side issue - but a few years ago, watso had a shoulder problem - and the pain was unbearable.. apparently after a heavy fall, there was some calcium build up in the shoulder- which all of a sudden (subsequently) disappeared - nevertheless there was a visit to a shoulder specialist - and he was wary about any operation. there is a tear in the ligaments (or tendons - or whatever), but the problem has resolved itself, and watso never bothered going back for further checkups.

swimmer ian thorpe has recently had a shoulder operation - which had some problems - and obviously the same problem could affect anybody.

watso is lucky that the pain disappeared, and no operation was needed - but the shoulder specialist mentioned that if an operation was required, then it would take a long time, before the shoulder would be ready for any daily activity.

shoulder or back - maybe there will be some problem after any operation - but getting back to the "back" - then trying out a bit of cycling is worth a thought.

just like anybody who has been cured, watso often forgets why he has become an avid cyclist - except that the two vehicles in the garage are unlicensed - and watso just automatically gets on a bike - and there is no point in thinking about driving one of the vehicles (the batteries would be flat, and the tyres seem to be half flat blah blah blah ).

each to themselves - but before any operation, think about an alternative solution - but if an operation is required, then hopefully it works out.

back pain is a nightmare.. watso recalls having to roll out of the bed, and crawling to the toilet, and then gingerly raising himself up, just to do some ablutions.

with a bit of luck, those days are in the distant past
