AWB is now only just beginning to be something like Telstra ...ie; a political football.
Kevin Rudd will bring the football out every now and then and give it a few more kicks, before putting it back in the cupboard again.
You are no doubt aware that the Labor Govt want to do another "Enquiry" on AWB.
Now, why would they want to do that you ask?
Remember that Alexander Downer is still in Parliament ...not sure if he wants to stay or not ...not sure that if he leaves, will he be able to defend his reputation in the public space, against Labor politicians in the protected un-sueable space of Parliament.
Alexander is between a rock and a hard place. He knows that there are murky things lying in the Foreign Affairs Dept files that could be unearthed or twisted, or ambiguously used to discredit his reputation and the Coalition's reputation.
Remember "Yes Minister"?
"Never hold an Enquiry into something Minister, that you don't know the answers, already".
I for one, am not so naive that a muck-raking Labor Govt in power, won't go a digging for some more muck to try to throw at Alexander Downer, with a view to trying to discredit the Liberal-National Opposition.
AWB sadly, for all its profitability will be the volatile football that is dragged out of the cupboard and kicked around for a time or two over the next months or possibly until, and leading into the next election.
Share prices of AWB will likely fluctuate on the emotional waves of sentiment.
Hence, AWB could become the darling of the short traders, who buy on the dips of bad news and sell on the rises of no bad news/announcements of increased profitability.
