There is one particular anti-virus freeware, once installed, is almost impossible to uninstall. It has inbuilt adware as well. It happened to me,couldn't uninstall it. Got rid of it by formatting my hard drive.
Some of these freeware leave traces behind even when you have uninstalled them.
Anyway, I don't use any of these freeware now.
The commercial anti-virus, anti-malware, firewall software are not expensive, worth spending a few dollars for the peace of mind.
