from this you and I aren't alone in our limited knowledge. they never used to attract media attention because they occur quickly and disappear pretty quick as well, so the media arrive with cameras and microphones, they only see the damage.
the really significant bit I learned from this is they occur along shear lines between weather systems so (ahem) unlikely to occur in this context and to add to my chagrin, there isn't an emoji to represent embarrassed shame available.
