    Totally agree AP.

It is quite laughable that all we have heard for the past year is how everything was being built towards the Ashes. We were led to believe that all of the rotations and selections were in preparation for the Ashes. Ponting was pushed (possibly) to prepare for the Ashes.

So, with all of the BS we have been fed, Brad Haddin is all of a sudden back in the picture.

I have said it before, the selectors really stuffed up with India because they had a lack of senior players. Blind Freddy knows India is a tough gig and to not take some senior players was incredibly stupid. Letting Hussey retire under their guards shows a lack of communication or something just wasn't right. Also, they have clearly overestimated the strength of our current crop of players. Sheffield Shield averages could have told the selectors our batsmen aren't up to it with ironically Ponting topping the averages with Haddin up there too.

It would have made perfect sense to do everything to retain the senior core of players (Ponting, Hussey and Haddin) for the tour of India just to give our young squad some old heads and experience. Then make the first ashes their swansong (which i am sure they would have loved) and let them know that the young squad would lead the way for the home ashes tour.

It doesn't seem like rocket science and makes a lot of sense. They put all their eggs in the Ashes basket, so we better bloody win it.
