They were put on notice during the international arbitration process. There was only one outcome possible given the surrounding circumstances.

So if they went for a repeat it brings into the equation the cost of going through it again for Thailand both in terms of the compounding impact (i.e. previous withheld award amount) plus additional restart costs. Next time there would be no negotiated settlement rather immediate an aggressive enforcement of a massive award.

Let's not forget they're (a supposed) free and democratic society so need to comply with what is acceptable to economically benefit from all that this offers. The political flow on impacts would take decades to overcome.

What some may not fully appreciated yet, we now have an elevated status akin to a protected species that has been ring fences from the internal Thai politics and local corruption.
