Firstly, thank you for your views. I enjoy reading them as you are constructive in your comments.
Points I would like to note though are:
- Again, they would not be looking to get involved in the coal business. That is like saying that Applabs before they listed under the old shell of AACL were looking at getting involved in the agriculture business. Obviously that was not the case as they changed the nature of the business within the shell. So that analogy about RIO is a little off centre. Rio would be an investment in a mining company but I don't see Applabs being able to turn Rio into a shell subsidiary of Applabs could you?
2. Your point regarding increased risk relates to your rigid idea that they will maintain the nature of the business. I don't believe this to be the case. These guys are bankers behind the scenes, they are not about to sabotage the last 12 months of their work for what is on the surface a suicidal move to shareholders with a banner of 'guess what guys, we are now in the coal game'.
3. I have seen so many of these types of scenarios over the years and I will reiterate that cooler heads always prevail. The traders/investors that get their pants in in a bundle over these things and make rash decisions based on surface noise rarely look back with a smile.
Having said that, come Monday, if you want to sell, you should. If you don't feel comfortable you should. If you are getting wound up about this as it sounds you should. Life is too short.
For everyone else, try and look for the trees past the facade of the forest. You get used to it after a while and that is how you make money. Not by following the historical pack.
I will be they to buy them though.
