When he has a patent A which can extend someones lofe with 4 years (cancer) and he earns 250k a year (1M gains) and they find a medicine which they patent which can save peoples life in 1x for 250k.. They see it as a miss of income of 750k and use the new patent to stop others from producing such medicine.
