Dr cole, had a great example in that video, about a push bike, where just the front wheel is identified by the antibodies, but then it gets mutated, and the entire bike is unrecognizable to those who identify with just a wheel, but natural immunity identifying the entire bike, would still recognize it, even with a mutated front wheel.
