That is exactly my point. Why has it become "colloquial AUSTRALIAN language". It is an IMPORT, made generally popular initially by a Scottish comedian who thought it was necessary to get a laugh and associated with American films and TV. It is crude, unnecessary and demeaning. It has no place in general conversation.
