After nine hours of debates, the Czech Parliament decided at a special meeting on Monday to allow only local companies to promote lithium in the country and recommended the government to suspend the relevant memorandum with an Australian company. This is reported by the Czech television on Tuesday.

"The parliamentarians have asked the government to terminate the memorandum on the promotion of lithium, signed two weeks ago by the Minister of Trade and the Australian company, European Metals Holdings," the resolution approved by Parliament said.

In addition, the document shows that only one Czech company could win lithium.

Lithium: Who will control "white gold" in the Czech Republic?
Although the Czech House of Commons had already submitted its powers over three weeks ago in connection with the parliamentary elections scheduled for 20 and 21 October, some parliamentary groups in the Parliament called for a special meeting because it was the task of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Jiří Havlíček and the the Australian company signed a memorandum.

Among other things, the Communists are said to have designated this agreement as "the sale of national mineral resources". However, the recent parliamentary decision has only a recommendation character.

Main component for batteries: New lithium sources found
In the north of the Czech Republic, billions of krones are likely to be "buried". This is not a gold, but a more precious metal. A cessation drill of the Czech-Australian group Geomet in the Cinovec area in the Teplice area has estimated the reserves of the area to be around 6.5 million tonnes of lithium. This quantity is likely to meet Europe's demand for this metal over more than ten years.

Lithium is used mainly in the production of battery batteries . In the face of an early boom in electric cars, it will probably be more in demand than oil, natural gas or gold. Lithium is also often referred to as "white gold". Experts point out that the world will soon face a lithium fever.
