I would like to think that someone of his corporate prowess would be a little more respectful of NWE and its shareholders plus show some a little more integrity around the process that MIN has just started

Could it be that he knew very well that his red mist educing statements and offer were just part of some strategic move for him to gauge just how protective NWE shareholders are of their company and assets. Well, if he or his (MIN)ions were trawling HC over the last 2 days to gauge NWE SH reactions to this, i am sure he now has a pretty good idea.
