When we are all sitting in the talga boat, watching the waves lapping over the gunnels, I sometimes wonder if Sweden will ever recognise that their process needs attention. When you look at it and what has happened, we are now sitting waiting for the supreme court to make a decision on whether the law was applied correctly. Every minority who has a beef in Sweden about something can apply this pressure in order to thwart progress, at no cost to them. Surely if you are going to allow this free for all attitude to the process then you need to increase the numbers in the judiciary by 2 or 3 times to handle these constant waves of pressure for the system to be effective. For now it only works in the appellants favour, not necessarily winning the appeal but causing long disruption at a cost to the company whose project is being appealed. Tax payers cannot be too happy about it either, especially when only 1-2% are worthy of being upheld.
