Looks like the afternoon spike down to sub $10 could have to do with A2M staff selling again (announced on NZX 2:14pm, but not on ASX). I guess it gave shorts some short-lived intra-day breathing space to fish for some weak hands.
Given A2M and BAL share price are now largely decoupled, they can only move together momentarily (on the scale of hours). But like we saw a couple of days ago, BAL (the sentiment-driven move) recovered and ultimately climbed up, whereas a2m (the original source of concern) maintained the downward move.
