Dino, didn't I say as much???
I just don't think our views are more important than any other country. If you enter a country knowing full well of the ramifications if you get caught, then you rolled the dice and lost. Even tho I don't agree with capital punishment for drug trafficking, I dont believe my opinion is necessarily more right than an Indonesian who believes they are right. We shouldn't expect countries to always confirm to our way of thinking. Let's not forget, our laws let a man rape a 7yo kid, then let him out after 1 year only to rape another kid, only to let him out after 4 years, only to go on and kill an 11 yo kid.
So, while we judge other countries on their laws, ours ain't perfect!!!
I lived 7 years in Vietnam. I can tell u they support capital punishment and seriously frown upon drug trafficking. Nearly every one of my friends supported capital punishment. I am a visitor in their country and my opinion is not more important than theirs. Just like we don't like it when other countries tell us our laws are wrong.
Had these 2 not threatened the lives of families and the couriers, I would have more sympathy. They knew full well the ramifications of getting caught and the certainty if a death sentence. They were prepared to let others die, especially an 18yo. Now, we are supposed to have pity on them when they were totally prepared to let others take the hit themselves. They played with other people's lives in a country with the death penalty. I find it hard to have a lot if sympathy.
