Discovery Metals reports a temporary interruption to ore milling at the Boseto copper project in Botswana. The interruption is caused by failure of a bearing in the ball mill gearbox, which was detected on 24 December. The shutdown was expected to be for a short duration as the required parts for the repair were on site at Boseto. As is customary for this type of failure, the mill manufacturer’s engineers were called to site for warranty and quality control reasons.
Subsequent dis-assembly of the gearbox detected possible metal contamination within the assembly and therefore the decision was made to send the complete assembly to Johannesburg for expert re-assembly. This is currently underway.
Perhaps I am just a suspicious old ****
But I do hope that the management has had an analysis done on the reason for the gearbox bearing failure
Failure could not have happened at a worse time for the company and present shareholders
I could continue but???
