In this country marriage is an option for heterosexual adult couples. Historically marriage is a legal ceremony performed by the church. It was intended to be a sacred commitment between two people for the purpose of procreation. We now live in 2012 and there are so many variations to living arrangements between couples and families. Surely within in a decade there will be even more variations to relationship and living arrangements. Change is inevitable.I think the question is, how fast do we embrace change? There will always be those who will oppose variation to the norm, or traditional and those who fit neither, and want inclusion. That is the nature of our Australian democratic society.
