Marriage used to mean something to those who treated it with respect. Now it has become about the event rather than the duration of the relationship.

I'd rather see it disappear than continue to turn itself into the 3 ringed circus that it's becoming. The initial idea was best - you get one shot at it, fail and you're never to get another go. Those who mock and corrupt marriage by remarrying again and again have made the act look cheap and meaningless.

I think people's intentions were sincere when they want/wanted to change the laws on marriage, such as allowing to remarry - that sounded like a good idea at the time. But knowing what we know now, I think people would go back to the original laws if it meant marriage was again something special.

Now it's a business.
