    those things in urban settings do alot of damage on pedestrians, because unlike most (unbarred) modern cars, they don't 'give' and transfer most of the energy into the pedestrian, making for horrific injuries - just ask a roo. Theres much better alternatives if you must have one - eg a 'polybar' - much more pedestrian friendly (if you 'have' to hit one). Unless you're just passing through IMHO only there is no place for metals bars in an urban setting, fine for bush.
