The red wax tip is to differentiate those banana to others as they are grown in what they call "The Ecoganic™ farming system" This is not organic.

While they claim these bananas have a longer shelf life it probably due to how they are grow, same with the sweeter creamier fruit.

The red wax tip does little more than make it stand out in the super market and people will pay more for them because it gives them a sense they are buying some thing more special.

This is a great example of good marketing
