    Hi Fox,

    An intelligent question.

    One of the big problems with the Australian markets is that individual sectors are not very broad. An individual sector can be skewed by the results in one big stock.

    Under "normal" circumstances the relationships work. Under "abnormal" circumstances the ratios don't work.

    We're now in "abnormal" circumstances.

    We're seeing that with the big drop in WES.

    We now have an abnormal skew based on a one stock variation, i.e., WES fell heavily and that skews the indices and the ratio.

    In this instance, it's probably more important to look at the moving averages.
