BANDANNA Energy has won Central Highlands Regional Council approval for a 300-worker accommodation camp, 12km south of Emerald.
The village, on a 53-hectare lot, will service Bandanna's proposed $1.2 billion Springsure Creek thermal coal project.
With a FIFO component estimated at 65-70%, Bandanna wanted a site with close proximity to the Emerald airport, according to its development application.
More than 100 rooms will be set aside for DIDO workers.
The company will pay $1.4 million in infrastructure charges.
There were two objections to the camp, which will have the same life span as the Springsure Creek Mine.
The mine is awaiting approval from the State Government.
