    I think you have a good case to get the "paid default" removed. I take it this affects your credit rating? Maybe you need to get a lawyer to write a letter asking them to remove it and also to subtly suggest the 72K was not written by you but was written in by a bank employee after you signed the document. This is definitely in contravention of banking regulations. They will not want to see a criminal or civil case against them. By the way, what was there before you signed it? If you said you had no income and then signed it, surely there was a big fat zero there? Where did that go? Was it removed somehow? Was it overwritten with the 72K by a bank employee after you signed it?

    So basically you need legal advice and I also think the ombudsman might be a good avenue to explore, as suggested by others above.
