"From July 1, ANZ Bank, Westpac, National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank and Macquarie will face a 6 basis-point levy on customer deposits above $250,000, corporate bonds, commercial paper, certificates of deposit and Tier 2 capital instruments. "
So it is taking a 0.06% (annually?) of all capital the bank holds excluding retail deposits and it raises $6b across the 5 banks over 4 years.
Don't like it obviously but don't know how profits will cut by 5% per above by this.
