    However things unfold from here, AA is the key, whether he emerges as a bidder or a blocker. He won't settle for any price he's not happy with (which is good for SH) but he could also be a deal-breaker. Either way, the process should generate more market interest in HUM and help recover some of its intrinsic value, regardless of the outcome. If a bid solidifies, it will help the market value HUM better and put it back on the radar.

    It appears there are a few suitors emerging, and some watching on the sidelines no doubt (including WBC.) Now that HUM's in play, they will all be running the ruler over it as a matter of course. And why not - the time is right to strike. Between shareholder fatigue, uncertainty over Covid, travel, retail, inflation and more going into 2022, HUM is majorly undervalued. Any suitor will look through these trends and see the long-term value, profitability, and growth HUM has ahead of it, aware that the opportunity to acquire a value-accretive business (or break it up for greater than the sum of its parts) won't last forever.
