"Any fool could run a bank"- ask the Europeans- most of their banks either went bust or almost did- it is NOT that easy to run PROFITABLE banks. Anyone can lend to people who dont repay the loan- Lloyds bank Australian commercial portfolio loans were sold at 33c in the dollar last year.
"The profits mainly go to shareholders here and offshore"- in the private enterprise capitalist system, profits are SUPPOSED to go to shareholders. You don't like that system, try living in a communist state like Cuba or North Korea.
"The govt should start its own bank!!" - Every state government and Commonwealth used to own banks- they sold them!
"I hate banks"- fine- don't use them- keep your money under the bed and never borrow. A strong banking system is the life blood of capitalism
Australias strong banks was one of the reasons Australia survived the GFC.
I hope you live in a safe Labor seat where your vote will not matter- or do you vote for the Lefties who call themslves the Greens.
