Your point is plausible Alby, but I would be surprised if the US would have freely agreed to that. After all, their economy (unlike most others') always booms when there is a military conflict of any kind - much of their economy is built around the military. So just imagine how much it would boom if WW3 broke out ... they would go a long way to paying off their debt!
