Exactly. But this is the prevailing mentality that we are battling here:
IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TODAY, THEREFORE IT WON'T HAPPEN.
Then when these events do happen: GFC, Brexit, COVID-19 global pandemic etc, these same people quickly assimilate these events and act like they foretold them. It is quite remarkable.
Relying on today's official inflation figures as a predictor of the future is like ignoring a tsunami warning because people are still relaxing on their towels on the beach.
Actions in the now can lead to vast consequences further downstream.
