I’m not too sure what you investment strategies are but haven’t you learnt anything about how shorts work? Sayona is a prime example of what happens, you don’t close your eyes, cross your fingers and hope for the best. You exit accordingly and also join the short if you’re in a position to do so. When the inevitable next raise comes in to keep the company alive, the shorters will reap the rewards once again. Not rocket science.
