well the banks have done it again--destroyed their competion and convinced all they need to be treated as a special case in Ausralia because of the greed and lunatic actions of the Americans--guaranteeing deposits and making non bank lenders uncompetative has taken us back decades and the banks must be laughing and sitting on increased profits which they will disclose only when they feel like it(and after every other lending institution is gone) The banks have not had it this good for years but will not want to let the cat out of the bag untill it suites them. Accumulate these financials and wait for guaranteed dividends and an increased share price for years. Who cares about the commodities, BHP pays bugger all and will go up and down with China's manipulation of the market--just buy the banks.If you can't beat them join them.
