    Because percentages distort the absolutes. The banks are not making massive profits out of low interest rates. If you look at the share prices of Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank in Germany, where rates are negative, they’re going bust.

    If you have money in the bank, or borrow from one, or have shares in them, directly or indirectly, you are promoting the system. If you feel ripped off by it, the solution is obvious. Start a bank! See just how easy it is to make a motsa. Be generous to your depositors and pay them above the market rate, and charge your borrowers less.
